What is being counted

The USDT-TRC20 contract (TR7NHqjeKQxGTCi8q8ZY4pL8otSzgjLj6t) emits an event every time Tether changes the blacklist. AddedBlackList is a freeze, RemovedBlackList is an unfreeze, and DestroyedBlackFunds burns the balance of a frozen address.

"Currently frozen" counts addresses whose most recent freeze or unfreeze event is a freeze. Freezes and unfreezes count events, so an address frozen twice counts twice.

Limits

  • TRON only. Tether runs a separate blacklist on every chain, so these numbers say nothing about Ethereum or TON.
  • Events are indexed on a schedule and cached for an hour, so the newest freezes can take a while to appear.
  • A freeze is an issuer action, not a court finding. It says nothing on its own about who controls an address.
  • No addresses are published here. Use the checker to look up one address at a time.

FAQ

What does it mean when Tether blacklists a USDT address?

Tether adds the address to the blacklist inside the USDT-TRC20 contract (an AddedBlackList event). The balance stays visible, but every transfer from that address reverts on-chain until Tether removes it.

Can a frozen USDT address be unfrozen?

Yes, but only by Tether. Removals appear on-chain as RemovedBlackList events and are counted on this page. They are much rarer than freezes.

What is DestroyedBlackFunds?

Tether can call destroyBlackFunds on a blacklisted address, which burns the frozen balance. The USDT destroyed figure here is the sum of those events.

Does this tracker list frozen addresses?

No. It publishes aggregate counts only. To check one specific address, use the free TRON checker, which reads the USDT contract directly.
