Before You Accept USDT: A P2P Counterparty Checklist

By TRON Checker · Published

Before accepting USDT in a P2P trade, confirm the TRON network and the actual sending address, screen that address, and review freeze status, sanctions results, and evidence coverage separately. Save the review before releasing fiat or goods. A check supports your decision; it does not certify the counterparty.

1. Confirm the network and the sending address

Ask the counterparty to confirm USDT on TRON (TRC20) and provide the public address that will actually send the funds. A TRON check does not cover Ethereum or other USDT networks. A valid address format confirms neither wallet ownership nor the identity of the person trading with you.

If the sender uses an exchange withdrawal, the outgoing wallet may differ from their deposit address. Establish which address you can review before settlement and record that limitation. If the sending address changes, the earlier check does not apply to the replacement.

  1. Copy the public address from the agreed trade channel and compare it in full before checking.
  2. Confirm the network in your receiving wallet and the trade instructions.
  3. Never request wallet credentials, a seed phrase, or a private key.

2. Run the free preflight, then decide whether to go deeper

Open the checker and paste the address. Core screening checks Tether USDT blacklist state and exact OFAC address matches without an account. The contract read and indexed sources have different freshness characteristics; look at the source details instead of assuming every result is newly fetched.

Deep analysis adds available exposure and transaction-pattern evidence. It uses one credit per deep check: one anonymous free deep check is available, and new accounts receive three free credits once. After that, one credit costs 1 USDT. Creating an account also gives access to the operator workspace; saving reports requires a separate opt-in.

3. Review the facts before the score

Read direct USDT freeze status first, then the independent OFAC result. A missing source or disagreement is a reason to investigate, not a negative match. Next inspect the score's named signals, confidence, and coverage. Volume alone is context and does not add risk points.

Use your desk's review procedure when there is a match, contradictory evidence, or insufficient coverage. Do not interpret a low score as permission to bypass counterparty checks. The tool cannot establish the source of all funds or predict an issuer's future action.

4. Preserve the review and check the settlement context

With an account, enable report saving in Settings or use Enable saving and save beside a completed check. Confirm the Report saved state, open the report in Reports, and export it if the trade file needs a copy. Keep the check time, source freshness, coverage, and scoring version together with your review decision.

A shared checker link starts a new query for the same address. It is useful for another reviewer, but it does not preserve the original result. Re-check if the address changes or material time passes before settlement. Separately confirm the actual network, sender, amount, and transfer confirmation in your settlement process.
